We propose you grab your fuzziest Santa socks, hood with a warm blanket, drink hot chocolate and dig into one of the best Christmas books of all time. Below, we’ve gathered old classics like The Nutcracker, funny tales for fireplace reading and of course kid-friendly choices for children.

 A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens

A Christmas Carol in Prose, Being a Ghost-Story of Christmas, commonly known as A Christmas Carol, is a novella by Charles Dickens, first published in London by Chapman & Hall in 1843.A Christmas Carol tells the story of Ebenezer Scrooge, an old miser who is visited by the ghost of his former business partner Jacob Marley and the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come. It’s a very heartwarming story and will remind one to have a giving and loving spirit. The tale is as delightful as its messages are. And the messages are also so touching that will make you read it again and again.

Mr. Dickens and His Carol by Samantha Silva

 A sentimental and so charming read, but if one cannot be sentimental during this holiday season, when can one? This historical fiction novel, published in 2017 but written in Dickensian, Victorian style, imagines Charles Dickens’ life as a struggling writer coming up with the idea for A Christmas Carol. You’ll be swept away by the old-timey Christmas feel, even though it’s a modern book.

 Skipping Christmas by John Grisham

 Here’s another Christmas book that became a film. This one is a favorite funny Christmas movie! The story focuses on how Luther and Nora Krank try to avoid the frenzy traditionally experienced during the Christmas holiday. On the Sunday after Thanksgiving, the two take their daughter Blair to the airport, where she departs for a year-long Peace Corps assignment in Peru. Seeing all of the busy traveling at the airport, Luther starts to develop an increasingly personal antipathy for normal Christmas traditions, especially knowing that Blair will not be with them for Christmas this year. To make matters worse, Luther is told by Nora to stop by a packed grocery store on a very rainy day, causing him to get soaked, only to realize when getting back in the car that he forgot the white chocolate on the shopping list, forcing Nora to go inside and get it herself.

 Last Christmas in Paris by Hazel Gaynor and Heather Webb

Here’s another Christmas book for historical fiction buffs which was released in 2017.Evie Elliott watches her brother Will and his best friend, Thomas, leave for Europe to serve in World War I. The three of them are very close and have never been separated. Evie is naive and believes that everyone will be together for a Christmas reunion in Paris. The three of them stay in contact via letters, and these communications become the fabric and timeline for the story.

  Method of preparation

Heat the olive oil together with the lemon peel in a saucepan.

Pour the soda and lemon juice into a glass and mix with a fork until the soda dissolves.

In a large bowl, add the sifted flour, the baking powder, the must, the sugar, the honey, the soda mixture and knead vigorously.

Immediately make the castalai, the lychee in the local mixing well 1 kg. ashtray in 1 νερό cup of water.Add to the bowl the hot olive oil, the lychee and again slowly the rest of the hot olive oil and mix vigorously with a wooden spoon.

Once the olive oil is warm, we start kneading with our hands until the dough is soft and does not leave «oils» in our hands.

At the last minute, add the spices and nuts and knead lightly.

We shape the mustache cookies and with a cutter we give the shape we want.

Lay non-stick paper on a baking tray and place the mustache cookies at some distance.Bake in a preheated oven at 180o C for 20-25 minutes.

Remove from the oven and leave to cool without covering.

Serve on a large platter and garnish with walnuts if desired.

We can keep them in a bowl or can.

Around December there are many religions that celebrate something important to them. One of those celebrations is Christmas and Hanukah. Canada is a multicultural country so many people celebrate different things and have different customs. Below, I shall describe how Canadians celebrate Christmas and what customs they follow.

First of all, on the 24^th of December most Canadians leave work early to do their last-minute shopping and decorate the Christmas tree.

Stores are open until 5 or 6 pm. Then they will wrap their present and in the middle of the night, while everyone is sleeping, they place the presents under the tree. Parents fill the children’s stockings with candies, treats and little toys. They also leave out some milk and cookies for Santa Claus.

On Christmas morning, it is custom for the children to open the presents. Children usually wake up early waiting for Santa Claus and his gifts. Usually, the cookies have been eaten and the milk drunk. Some parents even leave fake Santa footsteps on the ground or even coal from the fireplace. After the exchanging of the gifts the whole family prepares dinner. Christmas dinner usually includes roasted stuffed turkey, seasonal vegetables, mashed potatoes, and gravy. “Traditional favorite Christmas desserts reminiscent of England include Christmas plum puddings and mincemeat tarts. Christmas crackers are popular favors. A rich fruit Christmas Cake is also a traditional Christmas sweet.”

For some the best day is Boxing day, the 26^th of December, when all stores are open and usually have fantastic prices and deals. Often many stores have endless lines of people waiting to buy their favourite items.

          Very often, Canadians may travel around Christmas and New Years or even look for warmer countries to visit such as Mexico. Prices on these days are usually cheap so if people do not have large families or obligations, they may find themselves choosing to travel during this time.

Finally, some of the most popular festivals during this time are: The Niagara Falls of Festival Lights, Christmas Lights Across Canada in Ottawa-the capital city, the Vancouver Festival of lights and many more.

Overall, there are many similarities between Greece and Canada, but I think that out of everything I like the Canadian dinner the most. What is better than having a large delicious dinner with all the people you love.
