Report of the 2nd Mobility in Türkiye – Isparta (25–29 November 2024)

The second Learning, Teaching and Training Activity (LTTA) of the project “Protect Your Nature, Protect Your Future” took place at Mustafa Gürkan Anadolu Lisesi (hosting Isparta Anadolu Lisesi) in the city of Isparta, Türkiye, from 25 to 29 November 2024.

A total of 36 students and 9 teachers participated:
Greece: 6 students, 2 teachers
Latvia: 5 students, 2 teachers
Türkiye: 25 students, 5 teachers

A particularly meaningful aspect of the mobility was the participation of students from integration/support classes, highlighting the inclusive nature of the programme.


Objectives and Themes

The mobility focused on environmental education, intercultural communication, and active citizenship, with an emphasis on climate change and sustainable development.
Students worked in mixed international groups, taking part in experiential activities, workshops, educational visits and creative projects.


Detailed Programme

Day 1 – 25 November 2024

The week began with a welcome ceremony and presentations from all partner countries.
Students from the 1st Gymnasio of Rafina presented their research on the Bioclimatic Classroom and Rafina’s climate, linking local environmental issues to the project’s goals.

This was followed by a theatrical performance by Turkish students on the causes and consequences of global warming, as well as a workshop on Web 2.0 digital tools, during which the mixed teams created short reflective digital products.


Day 2 – 26 November 2024

Students participated in a reforestation activity in cooperation with the Regional Directorate of Forestry, planting trees and learning about forest protection and wildfire prevention.

The day concluded with a group reflection on personal and collective environmental responsibility.


Day 3 – 27 November 2024

An educational visit to Antalya connected the theory of climate change with the environmental reality of urban and coastal ecosystems.
Students identified environmental challenges and discussed sustainable tourism solutions.


Day 4 – 28 November 2024

A day dedicated to cooperation with local authorities and industry.

  • A seminar was delivered by Halil Sarıkaya on international cooperation and the role of NGOs in addressing the climate crisis.

  • The group visited the Isparta Municipality and the municipal recycling facilities, as well as a kindergarten that integrates recycling and environmental education from early childhood.

  • The day concluded with a visit to KIMO Textile Factory, which implements green production practices and uses renewable energy.


Day 5 – 29 November 2024

Participants were introduced to the “Six Thinking Hats” method by instructor Ahmet Özdemir and worked in teams to design family-based actions for reducing carbon footprint.

The week ended with the certificate ceremony, reflection activities and evaluation of the programme.


Results

  • Strengthening students’ environmental awareness and sustainability skills
  • Development of digital, social and communication skills through collaboration and Web 2.0 tools
  • Empowerment of students from integration/support classes, who participated actively, gained confidence and experienced international inclusion
  • Creation of cooperation networks among schools, NGOs, local authorities and businesses for future environmental initiatives
  • Public outreach through local media interviews, highlighting students as young ambassadors for the environment

Conclusion

The mobility in Isparta significantly contributed to achieving the project’s goals:

  • it strengthened environmental literacy,

  • promoted inclusion and cooperation,

  • and highlighted the importance of linking school – community – industry to advance sustainable development.

The experience left a strong impact on both students and teachers, fostering active, responsible and environmentally conscious young European citizens.
