Michael Joseph Jackson (August 29, 1958 – June 25, 2009) was an American singer, songwriter and dancer. Dubbed the «King of Pop«, he is regarded as one of the most significant cultural figures of the 20th century. Over a four-decade career, his contributions to music, dance and fashion, along with his publicized personal life, made him a global figure in popular culture. Jackson influenced artists across many music genres; through stage and video performances, he popularized complicated dance moves such as the moonwalk, to which he gave the name, as well as the robot. He is the most awarded music artist in history.
On March 31, 1996, he wrote a song named » they dont care about us». It is about human rights and mostly about those with black coloured skin. Its lyrics refer to the… apathy of the powerful of the world but also to human rights. The song acquires its own video clip and travels us to one of the poorest favelas in Rio, Donna Marta. There is, however, a second version in prison. The song returned to the forefront in 2014 and 2015, when African-Americans protested police violence against them with the slogan «Black Lives Matter».“The song is in fact about the pain of prejudice and hate and is a way to draw attention to social and political problems. I am the voice of the accused and the attacked. I am the voice of everyone. I am the skinhead, I am the Jew, I am the Black Man, I am the White Man. I am not the one who was attacking. It is about the injustices to young people and how the system can wrongfully accuse them.”
lyrics:
Don’t worry what people say, we know the truth
All I want to say is that they don’t really care about us
Enough is enough of this garbage
All I want to say is that they don’t really care about us
Everybody gone bad
Situation aggravation
Everybody, allegation
In the suite on the news
Everybody, dog food
Bang-bang, shock dead
Everybody’s gone mad
All I wanna say is that they don’t really care about us
You can never break me
Will me, thrill me
You can never kill me
Jew me, sue me
Everybody, do me
Kick me, kike me
Don’t you black or white me
All I wanna say is that they don’t really care about us
I have a wife and two children who love me
I’m a victim of police brutality, now (Mhhm)
I’m tired of bein” the victim of hate
Your rapin” me of my pride
Oh, for God’s sake
I look to heaven to fulfill its prophecy…
Set me free
Everybody, gone bad
Trepidation speculation
Everybody, allegation
In the suite on the news
Everybody, dog food
Black man, black mail
Throw the brother in jail
All I wanna say is that they don’t really care about us
Am I invisible ’cause you ignore me?
Your proclamation promised me free liberty, now
I’m tired of bein” the victim of shame
They’re throwin” me in a class with a bad name
I can’t believe this is the land from which I came
You know I really do hate to say it
The government don’t wanna see
But it Roosevelt was livin’, he wouldn’t let this be, no, no
Everybody, gone bad
Situation, speculation
Everybody, litigation
Beat me, bash me
You can never trash me
Hit me, kick me
You can never get me
All I wanna say is that they don’t really care about us
But if Martin Luther was livin”
He wouldn’t let this be, no, no
Everybody’s gone bad
Situation, segregation (Woo-hoo)
Everybody, allegation
In the suite on the news
Everybody dog food (Woo-ho)
Kick me, kike me
Don’t you wrong or right me
All I wanna say is that they don’t really care about us
All I wanna say is that they don’t really care about us
All I wanna say is that they don’t really care about us
All I wanna say is that they don’t really care about us
All I wanna say is that they don’t really care about us
