Editorial

Welcome to the second volume of Tallulah, our school magazine created with imagination, curiosity and teamwork. In this issue, our Year 5 and Year 6 students share their ideas, interests and creativity through English.

This volume brings together a rich variety of topics. Our readers will explore science and mystery, travel to different places, discover cultures and cuisines, and enjoy reviews of films and series. They will also read creative stories written by young minds full of inspiration.

What makes this issue even more special is that many of the articles are accompanied by the students’ own drawings and illustrations. In this way, words and images work together to express each student’s unique voice.

Through this magazine, our students do not only practise English. They also learn to observe, describe, imagine, research and communicate. We hope you enjoy reading Tallulah as much as we enjoyed creating it.

Happy reading!

What is the meaning of the name Tallulah?

Meaning:Leaping waters; Town; Princess of abundance. Shower baby with an endless stream of luck with the name Talula. A feminine name of Native American and Irish origins, this name is sure to help baby connect with the beauty of Earth.

The name Tallulah is also a variation of the Irish name Tuilelaith meaning princess of abundance, is what I’m seeing online. It’s also an alternate spelling of the Gaelic name Tallula….

So, welcome to Tallulah, our school magazine for English projects, young voices and creative ideas. The name Tallulah means “leaping water”, and we chose it because water moves, travels, changes and gives life — just like ideas do. Through this magazine, our students share their thoughts, stories, projects and discoveries in English!

Projects are the ideal way of motivating students to work creatively and learn cooperative skills. In today’s society where everything functions on pressure and competitiveness to learn how to function in a team in a productive but entertaining way is the key feature of a better world. A world of willingness and kindness where people learn how to coexist, assume roles, take on responsibilities, complete tasks and enjoy the result!
