Smoke from vehicles and factories cause the levels of carbon dioxide to rise in the atmosphere. Trees absorb the carbon dioxide. Human beings however, are cutting the trees down to build more roads and buildings and this is called deforestation.
This destroys the balance of carbon dioxide levels in the Earth’s atmosphere and then the layer of the greenhouse gases becomes thicker. This is the greenhouse effect. The thicker layer of the greenhouse gases traps more heat from the sun and the average temperature of the Earth increases and this is global warming.
The Earth is becoming hotter and hotter. Many species of plants and animals are in danger of extinction and many have already become extinct. This is a very serious and urgent problem, a problem that we must deal with. We can all take steps to reduce global warming to save our planet. It’s the only one we have and it’s our home. Let’s step up and take action now!
