Easter in Germany is something fun for children. On that day, the Easter Bunny hides the colorful eggs, and the children will then search to find them.

The egg is also a basic decorative element for the Easter fountains. The residents of these areas all decorate the fountains together, with eggs and flowers, putting original designs on them. Also, the fountains are parts of the Easter days.

In the northern regions of Germany, the custom of the Easter fire or the Easter wheel is also found. They also set fire to an old oak wheel filled with straw and let it roll down to the end of the slope. If it reaches the end of the slope without being damaged, then the harvest will be good.

Like every holiday, Easter is also characterized by typical traditions such as Easter bread, fish on Good Friday and lamb on Easter Day.

“Lanterns and Balloons”

Leonidio in Arcadia, the picturesque town covered by Mount Parnon, every Easter and at Resurrection presents us with the most beautiful images.

The feeling of a village and the large square that is flooded with people and, of course, the famous lanterns and hot air balloons is an experience that we all deserve to experience.

Every year the permanent residents of Leonidio make hundreds of colored lanterns which they leave in the sky on the night of the Resurrection and create a fairy-tale spectacle.

The right destination for Easter in all of Greece!

Easter in Santorini is unique! In Pyrgos village, there is the most impressive Easter custom of the island.

On Good Friday, after the deposition of the Cross, the local boys light hundreds of aluminium cans, called “tenekedakia”, placed in every house, rooftop, church and path. The atmosphere is magical, as the whole village glows from distance, with flickering flames, giving light to the night.

The Epitaph begins with thousands of worshippers following behind, holding candles, and singing “Oh, My Sweetest Springtime”.

Women emerge from their homes to sprinkle the Epitaph with rose water from their gardens, while church bells mournfully toll.

Throughout the year, church bells ring quite often in France. They sound all over the country several times a day and they are especially noisy on public holidays. But on the Thursday before Easter the bells are silent. Another custom is the chocolate egg hunt.
