ENGLAND
Can you imagine landing in an airport, seeing lots of fields with horses running around? Yes, this is England, an amazing country in Western Europe.
England is a beautiful rainy country where you can see a lot of green. Well, the English have some customs and traditions that you may know. First, the Royal Ascot is a horserace in June in which everyone can take part , and the winner is awarded the Gold Cup. Another famous event is t Boxing Day and it is celebrated on the second day of Christmas. Also, English people have a day when they wear bowler hats which are funny and very beautiful. In addition , one of their habits is the pub, a place where they usually go on Saturday nights.
The most famous dishes in England are Fish and chips, fish fried in oil and chips, the Yorkshire pudding, a small pie from roasted dough, and Baked beans, beans with a red sauce which has a sweet taste or sometimes in a sandwich. Also, in England, drinking tea is a very popular habit.
We all know lots of famous people from England, but mostly Queen Elisabeth and the royal family, Victoria and David Beckham, and a great number of pop stars, like “One direction”, and Shakespreare.
In England all the children must go to school and their education lasts eleven years. There are public and private schools where they wear uniforms. Their first part of education is till they are seven years old, the second till they are eleven, the third till they are fourteen and the fourth till they are sixteen. Also, they can be receive home schooling.
At Christmas the children sing the carols in the streets and every house has its fantastic Christmas tree. If someone visits them during Christmas, they give him food, sweets or small presents or even some Christmas pudding. Santa Claus is known as Father Christmas and the children don’t send letters to him, but they throw them into the fireplace for him to read the smoke. What’s more, the tradition with the Christmas shocks started from England, and the children don’t open their presents in the morning, but in the evening.
So, England is a cultural country with lots of customs and traditions and its people have a great sense of humour. They are also very polite. Do you hear all these for the first time or you have heard them in the past?
