Santa Claus in the past years was called Saint Nicholas and it was a man that was helping the poor families and persons. Also,it was one of the persons that made hospitals,orphanage and schools that was very helpful then.He spent all his life helping people without saying who he was.Sant Nicolas died at 31 December and Orthodox Christians thought that his died bring good luck to the new year. In west countries Santa Nicolas was the same with Santa Claus! In addition Santa Claus never stop giving presents in the children which had sent him a letter of what they want.
