INTRODUCTION TO 3D PRINTING

Every technological invention has its own time and era of interest. Considering that there are more and more examples of various «miracles» that are possible thanks to the concept of 3D printers, it seems that this is the right moment for many other «miracles». As it is known, 3D printers are devices that utilize additive manufacturing technology to create three-dimensional objects. This process is called 3D printing because material is added layer by layer to form the final product.

3D printing is a generally faster, cheaper and easier solution than other technologies for the production of 3D objects. It enables the production of parts and assemblies from several different materials, with different mechanical and physical properties in a unique process. This technology produces models that faithfully mimic the look, feel and functionality of the prototype product. These models can be in any geometric shape, produced from a 3D model or other source of electronic data. The 3D printer may also be presented as a type of industrial robot.

In the last few years, 3D printers have become financially accessible to small and medium-sized businesses, moving from making prototypes in heavy industry into the office environment. Nowadays, it is possible to fit different types of materials at the same time. In addition to making prototypes, 3D printers offer great potential for the production of various applications in the field of jewelry, footwear, industrial design, architecture, automotive, aerospace, dental and medical industries.
