Ένα ποίημα στην αγγλική γλώσσα από τη μαθήτρια Ευαγγελία Λιάκου,
The “were”, the “will”
but never the “be”
You’ll be happy, you’ll be glad
If only you aren’t bad
Bad at this, bad at that
Bad at science, bad at math, but don’t be sad
Cause you’ll have a great life
Your past has ensured a future so bright
Don’t worry you will be fine
It doesn’t matter if you now arne’t alright
The “be”, the “will”,
now it is the “were”
A bit shorter, a lot simpler,
but more happy that you could bear
With a smile to the eyes
and a report card at hand
Straight A’s, no B’s,
congratulations everywhere
The “were”, the “be”,
it’s time for the “will”
The thing you think of every night
before you fall asleep
Fancy college, great job,
an impressive degree
Big house, nice husband,
the perfect kids
But you think back on the now
on how you really feel
It’s not hurt, it’s not pain
cause your life is so plain
Does the past write the future?
Does the future control the present?
You keep living for a maybe
in hope for something better
But in the end you must consider
does it really worth the risk?
Or the “were” and the “will”
cannot surpass the “be”
