Thales was one of the seven ancient Greek philosophers and he is considered to be the «father» of geometry. He managed to prove many theorems that played significant role in changing the way of thinking that season. He was involved in Mathematics, Physics, Astronomy etc., but he was mostly known for his work in Mathematics.
It is worth referring that he created the School of Miletus or otherwise the Ionian School. In addition, throughout his life he remained devoted to the theoretical and practical involvement with philosophy and other sciences, while one of his important achievements was the measurement of the pyramid of Cheops.
Last but not least, the Panhellenic Student Competition in Mathematics was named after the great mathematician Thales.
