Piraeus, by Alex

Piraeus is a port city in the Attica region of Greece. It is located 8 kilometres southwest of Athens city centre, along the east coast of the Saronic Gulf in the Athens Riviera.

Piraeus is the biggest port in Greece and one of the most important ports of Eastern Mediterranean.

City life focuses on the 3 parts of the port:

1)      The Central port is the gateway to so many Greek islands. Along the coast there are cargo ships, sea liners, neoclassical buildings, shops, and churches.

2)      Marina Zeas is the docking place for some of the most impressive yachts and cruisers. On the coast, there are many restaurants, taverns, bars, and commercial shops.

3)      Mikrolimano is a beautiful small port, full of fishing boats, small ships and luxurious yachts.

In Piraeus, there are the neoclassical Municipal Theatre, the Peace and Friendship Stadium, the Karaiskaki Stadium, the Archaeological Museum, the Hellenic Maritime Museum and the Metro Station Piraeus.
