nantia-1Every country is proud of heroes who made it famous all over the world. For Romania, one of the greatest names in history is Nadia Comăneci. At just 14 years old, a simple girl from the town of Onești managed to permanently change the history of world sports and become a role model of ambition for millions of children. Her moment of glory took place on July 18, 1976, at the Olympic Games in Montreal, Canada. Nadia competed on the uneven bars, and her routine was so spectacular, confident, and graceful that the judges decided to give her the maximum score: a perfect 10. It was the first time in the history of gymnastics that this score was awarded. In fact, the official computer was not even programmed to display a 10.00, so «1.00″ appeared on the scoreboard instead. The crowd was amazed but quickly understood that they had witnessed a miracle. Nadia left that Olympics with seven perfect tens and five medals.

Through hard work, discipline, and sacrifices, Nadia Comăneci proved that limits can be broken if you follow your dream. Even today, half a century later, she remains a living legend and a true ambassador for Romania, teaching us all that perfection is achieved through passion.
