NEA KRINI

ΑΠΟ: ΤΣΑΟΥΣΗ ΕΛΙΣΑΒΕΤ - Δεκ• 15•14

Nea Krini is a bit more different and a little more charming suburb in Thessaloniki. It is on the east side of the city,   located in the munincipality of Kalamaria and stands off almost 25 km from downtown, at the east coast of Thessaloniki’s gulf.

This territory of Thessaloniki is really old. Actually the name Nea Krini means “new fountain” and this side of town took its name from the people who lived there at the years of the Byzantine empire. The reason for giving that name, actually, was because there was only  one fountain of water in the whole area of Kalamaria.

Nowadays there are many famous restaurants and cafes  most of them  in the coastal street of Aretsou . In Nea Krini there is also a marine which is called Chara , a  park by the seashore a  cinema and a fairground  . The view is stunning and in the afternoon the sunset is  an enjoyable sight which someone could  admire lying on the beach or relaxing in the nearby cafes  .

Nea Krini is a very crowded area, especially in the summer.

There is a  large paved pedestrian market road which is surrounded with hundreds of shops, cafeterias, restaurants and bars. It is always full of people and it is one of the best possible destinations if someone is off downtown.

To sum up Nea Krini which is part of the wider municipality of Kalamaria can offer  the opportunity to see a magical sunset, to stroll in a  beautiful environment, to visit one of the best bar-restaurants in town  and finally to spend his/her time in a very exciting way.
