These are becoming more complex as the hosts are trying to outlast its predecessor. After the artistic part of theceremony starts the parade of the athletes. They enter in a set order with the host country being last. Finally, the Olympic torch is brought into the stadium and usually a successful athlete lights the Olympic flame.

After all the games are over, a closing ceremony takes place. Flag bearer  followed by the participants enter the stadium. Three flags are hoisted: the flag of the host country, the Greek flag and the flag of the next host. The president of the Olympic Charter makes their closing speeches, the Games are officially over and the Flame is extinguished.

A medal ceremony is held once the closing ceremony is over. The first, second and third place contestants or teams stand on a three-tiered rostrum to be awarded with the medals. After the medals are given, the three national flags are raised while the gold medallist’s national anthem is played.
