Greece – Final Erasmus+ Mobility: Rafina, 4-9 May 2025

The final mobility of the Erasmus+ project «Protect Your Nature, Protect Your Future» took place in Rafina, Greece, from 4-9 May 2025, hosted by the 1st Gymnasio Rafinas. The activity emphasized practical actions that schools can take to address global warming and environmental challenges while focusing on student-centered initiatives. The mobility successfully combined environmental education, civic engagement, and cultural exchange, with all planned thematic areas — including the reduction of paper and material waste, responsible energy and water use, recycling management, and student-led green practices — being effectively implemented.

Activities and Highlights:

Cultural visits to Vravrona, Schinias, Ramnous, and Marathon, linking history and culture to environmental conservation.

A «Low Paper – Low Waste» action plan developed collaboratively by students and teachers, aimed at reducing waste in school operations.

Field studies at Marikes Beach, focusing on the analysis of seawater, marine litter, and coastal ecosystems.

Educational trips to Andros Island, exploring sustainable tourism and waste management practices.

Science workshops involving biodiversity studies, water quality testing, and environmental robotics.

Traditional dance and art workshops that encouraged creativity and engagement with nature.

Collaborative workshops focused on recycling, sustainability, and biodiversity, engaging students through hands-on activities.

Target Group and Results:
The target group for this mobility included students aged 13-16 and teachers from the partner institutions of the Erasmus+ project. A total of 22 teachers and 113 students participated, with the mobility being the largest and most inclusive of the project. The students engaged in every activity, gaining critical environmental knowledge and responsibility, while teachers exchanged innovative teaching methodologies for environmental education, sustainability, and digital learning.

Key Results:

Enhanced environmental literacy and scientific skills among students.

Promotion of sustainable practices through collaborative action and community engagement.

Strengthened European partnerships through official twinning with Liceo Classico «Giuseppe Garibaldi» (Palermo) and the participation of IC «Carlo del Balzo.»

Active involvement of local communities, including the municipality, parent associations, and environmental organizations.

Concluding Reflections:
This final Erasmus+ mobility marked the culmination of the project, reinforcing the importance of environmental education, sustainability, and intercultural exchange. Through a combination of theoretical knowledge, hands-on experiences, and international collaboration, the participants strengthened their commitment to preserving nature and ensuring a sustainable future for all.
