Mermaids are among the most famous mythical creatures in folklore world. They have appeared in the folklore of many cultures worldwide for thousands of years. While many associate mermaids Sirens in Greek mythology, Sirens were originally half-woman half bird. Later, they were depicted as mermaids- like creatures who lured sailors to their doom with enchanting songs.
