The role of Davlia in the revolution of 1821

On the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the beginning of the Greek revolution, it is worthwhile to make a tribute to the significance of the revolution of 1821 and to the contribution of Davlia to the struggle of the Greek revolutionaries.
The revolution was important for the Greeks. After four hundred years of slavery, they decided to fight and become an independent folk.
Davlia is a quaint village in the prefecture of Viotia. The village from 1997 to 2010 was the seat of the Kapodistrian Municipality of Davlia and the  inhabitants of Davlia, participated in the revolution of 1821.
Particularly, they fought in the battle for the liberation of Arachova. Additionally, Androutsos, Gouras and Karaiskakis led their soldiers to the battles  that took place in Roumeli. Furhermore, there were many times when their land became a field of conflict between Greek rebels and Ottoman troops. Moreover, people from Davlia participated in the plan for the extermination of thief Daveli. Lastly, Panagiotis Antonopoulos was one of the fighters who was born in Davlia.
In conclusion, the struggle of these people helped us understand the meaning of freedom. They shed their blood to offer us a better and more democratic world and that’s why their actions should be etched in our minds.
