The Batthyány Mansion

Bicske is a little town. This is why it’s a great pride for us to have such a beautiful and important building like the Batthyány Mansion.

The dwelling was built between 1754 and 1755, for one of the most famous noble families in Hungary. The Batthyánys loved this place and regularly visited it to spend here some months. Since the 20th century the mansion has been used as an orphanage and during the World War II the wounded soldiers also found help among its strong walls.

The building’s style is classicist and Baroque (became eclectic after the owners restored it in 1770). It is U-shaped. The two floors have 64 rooms. People are visiting the mansion from the whole country due to the wonderful English landscape garden. You can see many relics here, too, foe example the silver pen of Ferenc József I and his wife, Sissi. Bicske’s residents usually meet here during festivals and holidays. Picnics are organized with the simple reason to be happy together.

In my view it is the nicest part of our town and I would be glad if I could show it to as many people as it is possible to share the place’s peace, cheer and familiarity.
