The high school was created in September 1966. Before the students had to go to Angers to study, so Segré decided to create a new school named Blaise Pascal. They received 350 students.
Nowadays there are almost 1000 students. It’s led by Mr Mamou, our headmaster.
Now let’s introduce famous places in our high school.
« The patio » is a place located in the middle of the school building.it is a common space for the students who leave classes and those who arrive. Is it a lively place because there are always a lot of persons who flow into it. It allows pupils to have a shelter when it is raining outside. Finally, it’s a good meeting point for its localization and its convenience.
The « vie scolaire » (or school life in English) is a place which can be considered as a sort of administration, specifically focused on supporting and helping students. It has also a kind of” checking point function” because it supervises the students and checks their presence at school.
The « common room » is a room situated in the B building next to the « school life ». It’s a place where the students meet up again to work and at the same time to relax. We go there when we have one hour free or when we finish class. We can have a good time, listen to music and speak with our friends. It’s a very pleasant room, friendly but sometimes very noisy. This is one of the students’ favourite place in the school.
The school library is a room where we can read books because there are many books and many categories like comics, novels, dramas, dictionaries, documentaries. Of course in this room we can work quietly or we can go on the Internet, because there are two rooms with computers. We can’t use our mobile phones or listen to music. The school library is led by Mr Ménard and Mrs Gourit .
They help the students in their school research and they give them advice in our choice of books to read.
The « MDL »(maison des lycéens : house of students in English) is a place to relax. We have TV, music, babyfoot, … For the snacks, we have chocolate and bread. We pay 5 euros to register. And sometimes, the MDL organises outings (going to the cinema for example) and we have discounts if we belong to the MDL.
The boarding school is a place where the students, who live far school, can sleep. At the end of the classes (6.00 p.m), we walk up to our room, and at 6.45p.m we go down to eat in the canteen. We must finish at 7.30 pm and we go to our room to do our homework up to 9.00 pm . We can take a shower, read… up to 10.00 pm when we must go to sleep.
The canteen, is the place where every pupils of the school eat between 11.30 am to 1 pm. But the boarder are eating there at every meals. The food is controlate by a dietician, and we have always a lot of vegetables. All pupils have a cateen cards, that give us the right to eat, every meals cost 4 euro.
The gymnasium is a place where we do a lot of sports. In segré, we have the “ pôle espoir” , it’s pupils who have that have the potential to become a professional athlete, so they built an other gymnasium and now we have two.
