Young children from all over the world spend the entire month of December considering which gift would be the best for them. If you ask them «who’s going to bring it to you?», the picture of a fat, friendly, old man with a long, white beard─always dressed in red has already appeared in their mind. The modern impression of Santa Claus was originated by The Coca-Cola Company, which began its Christmas advertising in the 1920s with shopping-related ads in magazines, featuring Santa Claus. Nevertheless, many people are surprised, even today, by the fact that Santa was a real person. It is heartwarming that a Christian who lived approximately 1,700 years ago, found pleasure in offering gifts. He firmly believed that true happiness comes from giving to other people. Therefore, the altruism and selflessness of his heart inspired the Europeans into the famous tradition of sharing gifts, in memory of Saint Nicholas.
