New York (City)

New York, often called New York City or NYC, is the most populous city in the United States, located at the southern tip of New York State on one of the world’s largest natural harbors. The city is the geographical and demographic center of both the Northeast megalopolis and the New York metropolitan area, the largest metropolitan area in the U.S. by both population and urban area. New York is a global center of finance and commerce, culture, technology,  entertainment and media, academics and scientific output, the arts and fashion, and, as home to the headquarters of the United Nations, international diplomacy.

It is a powerful city that exerts a very significant influence on commerce, economy, media, art, fashion, research, technology, education and entertainment, New York is an important center for international diplomacy and has been described as the cultural, technological and financial capital of the world.

The Statue of Liberty

The Statue of Liberty is a colossal neoclassical sculpture on Liberty Island in New York Harbor, which was a gift from the people of France to the United States in 1886. The Statue of Liberty, due to its location, welcomed the wave of immigrants coming to America for a new life.

The statue weighs 228.456 tons and its height, without the base, is 46.5 meters, while with the base it is 93. Inside, 168 steps allow the ascent to the head, where there are 25 windows, and another 58 to the hand, which holds the torch, which in 1986 was covered with thin 24-carat gold leaves.

 

Central Park

Central Park is the largest public park (3.41 km²) in the borough of Manhattan in New York City. With approximately 26 million visitors per year, including all military and diplomatic missions, it is the most visited park in the United States while its countless appearances in films and television series rank it among the most famous parks in the world, making New Yorkers proud of it.

 

A huge city like New York could not do without a huge park for the entertainment of its citizens, and not only that. The “garden” of New York has it all: lakes, streets, bridges, squares, playgrounds, a zoo, museums, statues and of course greenery, lots of greenery. Laniakea Beach

Nicknamed Turtle Beach, this unique location is home to a population of Hawaiian green turtles that bask on its sandy shores during the day. Observe these gentle creatures from a safe distance, and watch them make their way through the rough waves that hit the beach. Volunteers are on hand to ensure that the turtles are not disturbed, and there are signs with information and rules. Laniakea Beach is understandably popular with tourists and locals alike—visiting in the morning when the turtles are active and for fewer crowds. You’ll have a better chance of seeing turtles in the summer.

Wailua Falls

his two-tiered 80-foot-tall waterfall located near Lihue is famous for being featured in the 1970s TV series, Fantasy Island. These spectacular falls are easily accessible—no hiking required—and can be seen from the nearby carpark. Visit after rainfall when the falls are exceptionally impressive, or in the morning for a chance to catch a rainbow when the light is just right. Be careful though—it’s not recommended to hike to the base of the falls as it’s steep and slippery. You can see the falls on a day trip or from up above on an air tour of Kauai.
