A friendly conversation (by using conditionals)

Yesterday, I went with my best friend to our favourite restaurant. I haven’t seen her since last week! If she didn’t live so far away, we would hang out more often. She wanted to tell me about a problem she had.

When we sat on the table, the waiter immediately asked us if we wanted anything to drink.

–No, thank you, we answered. If we get thirsty, we can ask you to get us something.

“Now, tell me, what is your problem? “ I asked her.

Well, my sister’s birthday is tomorrow, and I want to buy her a present, but I don’t know what she wants!

-If I were you, I would buy her a ring, or a necklace. Girls love jewellery!

-I’ve already thought about that. But I don’t have enough money. If I won the lottery, I could buy her that pair of diamond earrings I saw the other day, for sure.

-What a pity! What about some flowers?

-No way! If she smells flowers, she can’t stop sneezing.  She’s allergic to all kinds of flowers.

-Oh, I forgot about that! Hmmm…. I know! You should buy her a new book! She loves reading.

-Right. How could I forget? A month ago, she asked me to buy her one for her birthday. But… there is one problem!

-What?

-I can’t remember the title of it! If I hadn’t forgotten the title, I would have bought it by now!

Anger

The way  I scream at you everyday;

The way I tighten my fists.

A conflict deciding life or death

In a world just like Macbeth

The hot burning in your chest

The volume of the menacing shouts are what’s best

An ominous haze loiters around

Your true feelings are found

A feeling of guilt

A feeling of regret

A feeling of grotesqueness

FEARLESS

I’m alone

but not afraid

to  overcome my fear

I would be dead

If I hadn’t you

to  overcome my fears

Nothing to be frightened

I will be strong

to  overcome my fears

And even if I’m not

I will not give up

to overcome my fears

I’m not afraid

not anymore

to overcome my fears

JUST BECAUSE OF THE WAR

You can hear a painful cry

By a mom without the child

That was killed by a bomb

Just because of the war

Everyone is so frustrated

They are left without hope

Happiness has now faded

Just because of the war

They are leaving their country

Fire has destroyed all

No  life, no desire

Just because of the war

What has happened to the laughter

What has happened to the hope

Tears come from solders’ eyes

When they Are thinking of their home

Spring and summer are now coming

to melt the ice from the hearts

let’s just stop all of this fighting

for the best future for us

MY SAVIOR OR MY DESTROYER?

*50 years later*

Back then I used to hate myself. My smile, my body, my laugh, my eyes, my nose, and not only my outlooks. I also used to hate my personality as well. It was a hard time since I had nobody. Here’s me! 18 years old, with dead parents since I was 4, all alone living in California.

Luckily there was this guy named Carolo Kison. He made me feel like I’m someone special. He was the first human being that ever noticed me. I was in college when we met. Best year of my life. He was everything to me, and I thought I was everything for him too. He would always ask me things like “how was your day”, “did you eat anything”, “Do you need any help?”, “Are you feeling okay?”. I…kinda fell in love with him. I even got butterflies everytime I saw him. He-was-perfect.

After a couple of months we started dating. The happiest moment in my entire life! How could I be so lucky! I still don’t regret anything. He would often send me flowers with cute notes, take me out, go to movies, listen to music, watch the stars together, play boardgames…He was perfect for me, but, was I perfect for him?. Even though I loved him I could never be sure if he was feeling the same. It was too good to be true as a friend once said.

It was our one year anniversary, when I realized that he was trying to see his ex in my eyes. He would innocently stare at me and I felt like I was falling to the ground. Little did I know that he was comparing me to his ex since he saw me. My outlooks, my personality, my movements were all compared to his ex. As it looks like he never got over her after they broke up. He even tried to change me to be HER. I felt so betrayed and hurt. No one, had ever, done, anything, nice to me all these years, but when he did, I believed it was different.

Now he is married to his ex with three beautiful and adorable children, while I secretely watch him from distance with my teary eyes, and my miserable heart. I’m actually happy for him, really! I just hoped it was real with him…

I don’t need you any more.

           I loved you

           I cared for you

and you played with my heart.

           And after you got bored,

you just threw it in the trash.

           Now I’m all alone.

You left me when I needed you the most…

But now I will be strong,

I will move on with my life.

I don’t need you at all

I don’t need you by my side.

UNDER LOVE…

If you ever find yourself stuck in the middle of the sea,

I’ll sail the world to find you.

And if you ever find yourself lost in the dark and you can’t see,

I’ll be the light to show you the right way.

I have walked up in the mountains,

as the sun rises.

I have heard the wind in my ears,

just to fight your fears.

As you say you love the rain,

I’ll be the umbrella to cover you.

And as you say your heart is bleeding,

I’ll be the moon for healing.

I still see your face in my mind,

just so I could call you mine.

But when I see your eyes in the sea,

I feel love inside of me.

                                                             Demourtsidou Julia    Γ2

                                           What does love mean

   I met you by chance,

we started hanging out in love and you ended up my biggest weakness.

You loved me, you left me and you opened your heart to me better.

Forever and for a lifetime we will be together

you will love me as I will love you too

  and we will stay together.

Thank you!!!

There are some people who inspire us today

Who always lend a helping hand to show us the way
These people see their students through
The through times in their lives
For what we say thank you
You have made a difference
You have shaped our minds
You have changed the world
Once a child at the time
You have always be there
In everything you do
I hope that you’re proud of me as I’m proud of you
This dedication is for those who heard the silent cries
Who stepped into wiping the tears from the children’s eyes
You have made a difference
You have shaped our minds
You have changed the world
Once a child at the time
You have always been there
In everything you do
I hope that you’re proud of me as I’m proud of you .

WARS

Nowadays, wars are becoming the solution for every argument between two or more countries. For instance, the latest catastrophic conditions in Ukrain from the war with Russian, I would like to talk to you about the issue of war.

Wars have never stopped since microorganisms have lived in this planet. What do I mean by that is that for example, even plants fight each other. Plants fight each other so they can live better. Same with animals. They build a group of their spieces called “pack” and then they attack other animals. Always the strongest and the smartest wins. As humans, our DNA is closer to animals. That’s why we act the same with animals. The animal kills another weaker animal either to eat or take their place instead and become the leader of the pack. Only the survival of the fittest wins.

One the other hand, people are fighting for economic reasons, arguments between the borders of two countries, earth, or arguments for a city. And always the strongest and the wealthiest country starts the war, and most likely to win. They say that animals are “stupid” but they act the same as I said. Instead of asking for help they choose to fight over smaller countries.

It is important to say that everything has a reason. The population has increased rapidly since the Industrial Revolution, 1760-1840. Because of that, some people didn’t have enough money and asked for loans. The economy of the country was falling apart while some of the “rich” people were too selfish and too careless to help. A lot of people ended up homeless because they couldn’t pay the rent, or food, water etc.

Nowadays, based on a study, which is published in “Phychological Sience” shows that the 68% of the people, are becoming more individualistic over time. Individualism, as opposed to collect-tivism, relates on how independent and self-reliant people are. So almost the ¾ of the population puts their needs first. When someone asks for help, they lie so they don’t have to worry about money and look after themselves instead. People are growing to a rough life time. My point is that the selfishness makes them start the war or a fight.

People who start a fight or even a war want to make sure that people are scared of them and feel more powerful, because they have issues they are getting weak. And for them there is no other solution which can cause a lot of damage, mentaly and physicaly. Their aggressiveness and mindless thoughts and moves sacrifices humans lives.

Likely there are people like the president Lyndon B. Jonshon. He announced on July 28th 1965 that he has ordered an increase in U.S. military forces in Vietnam from 75.000 to 125.000, when the South Vietnam was loosing the war by the communist-dominated Viet-Cong. They gained influence over much of the population in rural areas of the country.

The results of this war were shocking. They used to poison each other’s water. People died from bacterias such as E.Coli, Salmonella,Clostridium Botulinum, Vibria cholera, Tetanus or even Klebsiella. So they didn’t have clear water to survive. Both people and animals, died from these fatal bacterias they used to poision.

If we move to the women issue during a war we will see that soldiers used rape as a weapon. Its use as a weapon of war and it was gruesomely demostrated during World War II, when both Allied and Axis armies commited rape as a means of terroorizing enemy troops. Two of the worst examples were the sexual enslavement of women in territories conquered by the Japanese army and the mass rape commited against German women by advancing Russian soldiers.

Luli (not her real name) is recalling how she was raped inside a police station in the town of Shtime/Stimlje in September 1998 during the Kosovo war. After the rape, the police sent her to the capital Pristina, where her order continued. They often locked her on a basement and rape her while she couldn’t speak. Luli’s story is one of the several rape survivors” accounts in a new book entitled “Beyond Pain, Towards Courage: Stories about the Trauma of Wartime Sexual Violence”, which is publishedin English, Albanian and Serbian by the Kosovo Rehabilitation Center for Tortune Victims and ForumZFD’Kosovo.

As I said, both adults and children died by dirty water, cold or hunger. Most people didn’t even have the basic food to survive. Foods such as toasts, potatoes, biscuits, honey, flour or even sugar. And they had no choice but to stay silent. Then they got sick and some of them died. 1/3 of the soldiers died because of the cold. In the past, when winter was coming up, during a war, the war was forced to stop until it was spring. Now they don’t care if it’s too hot or too cold. The war must be done under all weather conditions. They continue the war until someone wins. Even though nowadays the equipment and the dress code have changed through the years, still, there are people who can’t survive.

Apart from that, another issue the phycological part, which means a lot of stress, anxiety, fear, depression, pain etc etc. A war definitely not easy. There’s always a stressful and painful aura around people. Both children and parents/adults are terrified about their lives and their future. You can never be sure what is about to happen. People can die by any minute. They are even afraid to go out to bring food to survive. They usually stayed at their basement without food. The mental pain and the depression in a war commonly comes when a person loses someone important. Like their lovers, their parents, their children, or even their pet. The pain is the same. Furthermore, a lot of pregnat women have died during a war and sometimes, the baby couldn’t survive even if the mother was still alive.

Another hurtful issue, is when the child becomes an orphan. Kids lose their parents and then they have no family. Usually the father dies while fighting and the mother dies from depression, rape, sickness, or they kill her because she was a woman. In my opinion, for a child, the worst feeling is when you watch your parent die in front of you, or into your arms and their last words are “I love you”. There are times when the parent sacrifices their life for their child and the child slowly see them dying while they can not do anything to save them. During a war it’s hard to find a safe place without getting caught. So the baby, the child, the teen is in danger all alone. There are also soldiers that kill the babies with no hesitation at all. Parents, fight for their children but when they are dead, the child has no protection and they can not trust anyone anymore.

The exact same pain is when the parent loses thei child. As I said there are soldiers that used to kill babies in order to stop the next generation. That’s the biggest fear for parents, especially for the mother. Parent’s feel like they couldn’t protect their baby and it was their fault. To be honest, I insist that children should not be involved in a war and stay out of it. But this is goverments decision.

The Civil War was American’s bloodiest confict. A lot of people died from phycological reasons. They killed themselves on purpose because they couldn’t take it the whole situation anymore.

Likely there’s “The Good Death”. “The Good Death” represented an ideal experience for someone that is prepared to die. First and foremost, this person would likely die at home, surrounded by their loved ones. Before the professionalization of funeral directors at the end of the 19th century, death had always been handled at home. Family members and close friends would tend to the dying, comforting and tending to them in their final days and hours. This helped a lot of people, mentally and physically.

I think that the hardet part is after the war. To recover all the damage of the country is too expensive. The enviromet has been destroyed by all the chemicals, the dust, bacterias etc and it’s the hardest thing to recover because it takes too long and people need a safe place to stay. To heal what has been lost will take over five years. Plants, animals, houses, buildings, monuments, people, parks, schools are either dead or destroyed. It is not as easy as it seems because there are not enough money left. Of course there are countries who hel them. Commonly neighboring countries offer food, clean water, blankets, medicine and money. Sometimes, they offer safer places to stay such as hospitals, nursing homes, schools, and generally large buildings with large capacity to help people whp have lost their home.

Another sad fact is that, the winner of the war, takes women, children and some men as slaves for them. Rich people either kill them or keep them for themselves. They might as well sell them to other rich people. It is harsh, but it is what it is.

People will do anything for money and power, and that’s the saddest thing ever. People suffer from head to toes and no one stops it. Having a war will not solve anything for sure. Violence was never the solution to be now. Children have traumas and are insecure about their future. Just imagine how happy and peaceful people will be if wars stopped once and for all. It’s sad, thinking how many adults/parents, children, animals have died, and still die. It’s sad, thinking how many dreams have drowned into this destroyed world with no other option but to fight. It’s sad, thinking how money can change peoples mind. It’s sad, thinking how many families have been lost. And it’s sad, thinking how much careless people can be these days. Intead of helping each other to create a better enviroment for us and the next generation, we prefer to fight for the most stupid reasons. We are destroying ourselves. We all live on the same planet. It is our responsibility and we shouldn’t act like that. We are on the 21st century and people still believe that money is the most impostant thing in the world.
