The Colosseum:The Colosseum, one of the most impressive buildings of the Roman Empire and one of the most important sights in Rome today. The Amphitheater is located on the southeast side of the Forum Romanum. The Colosseum was begun under Vespasian in 72 C.E., continued under Titus, and completed during the reign of Emperor Domitian in 80 C.E. It was called the Flavian Amphitheater, after the dynasty of Emperors who built it. Thousands of Jewish captives who had been captured by Titus after the destruction of Jerusalem labored to build it.
